Today was back to school for this mama. Tomorrow is the first day of the school year with students, something that I can fortunately greet with more excitement than trepidation in this my 12th year of teaching.

 Summer was good. I was able to relax and spend time, healthy time, with my gal. I was able to have days just hanging out, not on our way somewhere or in a mad dash to get something done. I was able to just listen to her, be silly, and not be impatient.

This little miss has gone through her first days of preschool and come through it like a champ. Joel and I suspect she'll be running the show by the end of the week.

She is little wonder, becoming less and less little each moment. My goal for this school year is to have some of those silly, not impatient moments with my gal all week long. So long Ellie, Hello Mrs. Frozena!

A great summer weekend

It's been a while since I had the leisure, but also the memory capacity on my computer to be able to upload pictures and update our blog. Today, the one day between the regular school year and summer school that I get off, I get around to the really important things - sharing pictures of my gal!

We had a busy weekend:  Huichica Music Festival and Father's Day at the A's game.  The picture below is of Cam in the Fun Zone at the A's game. They have all sorts of coin operated rides and a jungle gym and a whole mess of TVs for parents relegated to this area instead of sitting in their seats. Pretty fun (for Cam)! 

 

It was a beautiful day for a game. Cam tolerated sitting and watching baseball as best as one can expect for a 3-year old. She got to see back to back homeruns and I am sure a lot of other exciting baseball stuff that Joel would have to explain.She found the volume of applause a little off-putting, but enjoyed the people watching... and the ice cream. Little consumer that she is, she wanted to really "buy something." And as we exited the park during the 8th inning, she was crying "I want to buy something, repeatedly. 

  

I explained that I didn't have any money left to buy anything. She was confounded. She explained that I should go get some more money. Later, after drowsing in the car for a bit (see below) she stated that she was going to go get some money and buy us a new house, a new car, a bike, etc. I told her to get busy and she can buy me those things anytime!

She is one smart cookie, and a creative little thing on top of it all. Yesterday, while eating some grape jell-o, she announced, "I hope there's a playground in my mouth!" Hmmm...
