Back in the Swing '11

Yes, it is good to be back in the routine. I always dread going back to work after an extended break. It's way too easy to get used to being a full-time mama, basking in the effortless love of my little gal. That said, routine can be good too. I actually do enjoy that 1/2 hour commute, during which I am alone, luxuriating in good coffee and BBC news.
Thank you Grandma Sooz for the birthday tutu. Cam is not super keen on it yet, but will be, I have no doubt. However, being a ballerina is right up there with gymnast in terms of hobbies that destroy your body and encourage eating disorders and body issues. We'll just let Cam choose her own interests. Lately, her interests include learning to walk. Zulda said Cam took 6 or 7 steps today. We've only seen her take a few wobbly, lurching steps from one of us to the other, but she's definitely practicing her balance.
This is C and M while they are in their double jogger on the way to the park. What a life they lead! They have all kinds of friends we don't even know. Zulda and all of Cam's park friends threw them both a birthday party! They had food, a cake, presents, it's all too cute. We are really lucky to have the ability to give Cam such fun days.

Cam, really has had sort of a month of birthday gifts and parties. Joel and I have put a bunch of the gifts that she received away to bring out later. We're trying to prevent toy fatigue. This little girl has a toy for each day of the year, and her favorite toys continue to be things like old CD cases, the ribbon off of one of her presents or the tupperware drawer. None of those, however, can compete with books. This girls is gaga for books. From the moment she wakes up, she is struggling to get out of our arms to make her way over to her bookshelf. Nothing could make her English teacher mother and librarian father happier!
Other than that, we have ants. What's new. Love you all and will try to catch some of Cam's first steps on the camera and post them here.
