I am at 8:30pm again, and have my first moment to breathe all day. Now comes the essential decision: get work done and start tomorrow prepared for a successful seamless day, or pour another glass of box wine and update the blog on my favorite subject: Cam. I have chosen wisely.
The weekend already feels like years ago, but we had a good one around here. Sunday, Cam and I spent the day at Golden Gate Children's Park while Joel golfed. We had a grand time, thanks to a lovely day of weather and a beautiful park. Cam loves it there. She went down the same slide for nearly 45 minutes. Crazy fun.
We shared a snack between sessions on the slide. Cam started going down backward on her stomach, tentatively progressed to going down forward on her butt, and by the end of the day, with help from a cutie 3-year old named Willa, she was going down forward on her back, hair scattered with static electricity. She was quite proud of herself; then she went on the prowl for bigger slides! Someday, we'll together brave the cement hill slide that the big kids go down on pieces of cardboard.
Joel rejoined us for a nice lunch at Magnolia, where Cam occupied herself with her latest obsession: playdough.
No visit to the Haight would be complete without a trip to a record store.
Joel and I were reminiscing our respective childhoods and all the time we spent clowning around in Menard's or Fleet Farm while our dads picked out lumber or salivated after fancy tools. We think that the record store may be Cam's equivalent.
We love this gal. She grows up so fast! She can say things now like, "Dadda, I want to listen to jazz" and, "this blueberry is purple, but orange on the side," or "Mimi is in Peru." She blows our minds on a daily basis, and makes us so proud. She is sleeping through the night more or less regularly now (knock on wood and throw salt over my shoulder) and this coming weekend we are planning on taking another stab at potty training. She looks more and more like a little girl, and even has hair half-way down her back. When it's my night to put her to bed instead of Joel, she says, "Dadda's sad." :) She sings Happy Birthday to everyone she knows. She still loves to dance. She is back to loving bath time, especially if I let her play with Joel's shaving cream. Every day when we get home from Dolma, she sings, "Bubbles and chalk!" until I produce them for her in the backyard.
What a gem. And I get next week off and get to hang with my gal! Can't wait!
