Cambria's Summer Wonderland

After a week of nothing but hanging out with this gal, it seems that she has grown up before my eyes. She is a little girl now, no toddler left in her. True, she still squeezes the occasional turd into her undies or cries simply because she doesn't know how to say what her frustration is, but she is so self-possessed and self-aware - it's amazing.
The summer started out with some fun! For the fourth of July weekend we spent our time in North Lake Tahoe, where Cam just warmed up her beach skills. Unfortunately, our camera broke just before our trip, meaning we have no pics other than a few from our iphones.
Cam loves her Auntie Gigi!

We were lucky enough to get Grandma Sooz for a whole week too. Just as my session of summer school was ending, Sooz came and showered us with love.
These two pics are from a day when we went to the Bay Area Discovery Museum. We all must have been tired, because all three of us were more interested in the snacks than the exhibits or the live Clifford appearance.

While Sooz was still here there was a neighborhood block party at which Cam got to play in the bouncy house and get her face painted like a monkey for the first time.

We have just returned from a week in San Diego made possible by our good friends the Sinclaires. We stayed with them at their family's vacation home, affording us a chance for Joel to work in his San Diego office and also for us to visit with the Temecula Hoenes!
Cam became fast friends with her cousins who were shocked and pleased at home much she can (and does) talk. I think that was the barrier that formerly existed between them feeling like she was any fun. They are fabulous doting cousins.  Cam also took really easily with her Auntie Jessica, and after hanging out with the Hoenes on the beach for the first time proceeded to ask me "Where's Auntie Jessice?" every 15 minutes for the rest of the week?

We got so much good beach time that I am feeling a little bit in beach withdrawals.

Here is Cam watching the One Ocean dolphin show at Sea World with some of our friends. That show was by far her favorite. It featured a girl named Marina in a pink wetsuit with whom Cam is more than a little infatuated.

I am definitely taking ALL of next summer off. I love this girl and having uninterrupted time with her is so precious.

Now we're headed for a week and a half with the grandparents and friends in Wisco. Summer is the best.
