A Day to Remember

Joel and I, on some distant retired moment sitting in our Kauai beach house, will look back on today, clink glasses and laugh. Well, actually, we did that tonight around 6:30, just minus the Kauai and the retirement, in the backyard.
It has been quite a while since Cam has slept through the night around here. Meanwhile, she's been sleeping for a sold 3-4.5 hours a day in naps. We were thinking that perhaps we could cut out the second nap, and night time sleeping would improve.
Today, we did cut out the second nap. But Cam didn't make it to anywhere near her bedtime. We put her to sleep at 6:15, both exhausted from a fussy baby that was hard to please.
But that's not all. I took her to swimming class this morning in order to try to prolong her morning wakefulness. We had a good time, but she was getting tired and I got out of the pool a little bit early. She napped a good nap, but woke up very fussy, and strangely not at all hungry. Joel and I decided to pack her up and take her to the park to let her work it out. She cried most of the way there, and then.... the vomitous deluge. Gross. I looked back into the mirror and saw her spewing mouthfuls of stuff (be happy I don't allow my narrative skills go wild here). We had to pronto park, strip her down, use all the wipes to clean it up as best as possible, and abort mission, making a beeline for home. Poor Cam, had to go back in that wiped out, but still kind of pukey, car seat, without any clothes on, for the ride home. I am now well acquainted with each nook and cranny of her child safety seat - and each said nook and cranny is very clean. We blame the fact that she may have swallowed some pool water today - gross - and that caused the puke.
Our hope is that with the time change tomorrow morning, Cam will still wake up at the same ungodly early hour and there will be no residual damage from either this crazy day, or Daylight Savings.

Man, we are learning that parenting is truly one exhausting experiment... and that's really what it is, an experiment. All the decisions we make are educated guesses, some of which backfire (in the form of prodigious upchuck) and others that work out well, giving us an undeserved sense of competence.
The pics are courtesy of a neighbor with a really great camera. I may just have to get me one of these great cameras.

Tomorrow morning is my morning to sleep in. Hallelujah!
