Bastille Day!

What a beautiful day to be born! Welcome to the world Ruby Sinclaire! For those of you who know our neighbors (most of you will be staying in their house shortly) they had a beautiful 8 lb. 12. oz. baby girl today! This beautiful, ruby-colored Berkeley flower is dedicated to our newest Josephine Street denizen.
Cam decided not to take her afternoon nap today. As I was attempting to correct the 1st session summer school final exams, Cam stood up in her crib and said "mama" for 1/2 an hour. I gave in and went in with a bottle. In an attempt to trick her into a nap, I laid down with her and pretended to fall asleep, in hopes she would get bored and do the same. I pretended to sleep, snoring and all, and Cam proceeded to play with my face, until I cracked up, couldn't take it any more. Then, nap time, and pretend nap time, was over and we hit the streets. We hit the farmer's market, and in general dawdled all over North Berkeley. Cam was enjoying the fineness of the day. It was a beautiful Berkeley afternoon. We stuck pebbles in cracks in the sidewalk, sniffed flowers, watched ants and sat on nice doorsteps. What a nice day with my gal.
I love these days.
