We had the time for a wintery hike this weekend. I use the term "hike" very loosely here, seeing as we walked for 2 miles on a paved path, but it is so important to get Cam out where there is no buzz of overhead electrical lines or the sounds of televisions. She loved it.

Cam has been especially transfixed by her shadow. All through the hike, her shadow was out in front of her and she was loving moving and watching her shadow cooperate. However, when we turned back towards the car, she was stymied by the fact that her shadow was now following her instead of leading the way.
"Not working," she kept saying and pointing to her shadow.

"Not working," is one of Cam's new phrases that get a lot of mileage. She says it basically whenever anything isn't going the way she'd like. She also is showing grammatical nuance to some of her phrases. Up until last week Cam would say, "hold you!" when she wanted me to hold on to her, but just his week she started to say alternately, "hold you me" or "hold me." She's getting it. The way kids acquire language is truly amazing.
When Joel arrived home from work one night this week I greeted him with the usual, "hi Joel!" with which Cam echoed, "Hi Joel!" She is constantly saying things that cause Joel and I just to look at each other and laugh, and ever increasingly, hold our tongues when we'd otherwise like to let an expletive fly.
Dolma threw Cam a b-day party yesterday since they'll be closed for her true b-day. The whole day care was lit up with Birthday decorations and Cam sang "Happy Birthday to me!" the whole way to day care.
We're gearing up for the Holidays, Amy's birthday, Grandpa Mike's visit, Cambria's Birthday, Trip's Birthday, Francisco's Birthday, Grandma Sooz's Birthday, Aunt Pat's Birthday, Uncle Jack's Birthday... whew! Hope I didn't leave anyone out!
Love you all!
