We got in on Friday and Jen met us with the rental car. We drove from Midway airport in Chitown to Chesterton, a trip that took us two and a half hours, thanks to toll roads. We had to make a pit stop for Cambria's sake, and unfortunately, the only convenient place to stop was a KFC. My diaper bag smelled like fried chicken for the rest of the weekend.
We stayed in a hotel with all the family which was great fun, though at times overwhelming for a 5 1/2 month old. We got a chance to catch up with cousins, uncles, aunts, second cousins, etc. This is a picture of second cousin Chloe. What a character that girl is. Of course, Joel was her favorite within seconds. He has that effect on women I've noticed. She was also sweet on Jen. In fact, as I sat and chatted with her on Sunday morning, she looked me square in the face and said, "I wish Jenny was here." You have to love the brutal honesty of a six-year old. Oh, and the picture makes it look like the wind was blowing out her hair, but that's just her hair. She's hilarious. She'll make good company for Cam in years to come.
Grandparents Fro got a nice chance to see the progress Cam is making. She even did her first roll from back to stomach for Grandma Fro. She is increasingly putting her feet in her mouth, or as near it as she can get. She is standing supported for longer periods of time and when she does she looks around as if to s
ay "Hey everyone! Look at what I'm doing!" It's pretty cute and of course I am so proud of her strong little legs. Well, her legs aren't that little. She's got some serious girth to those puppies!
Cambria did her best to make an impression at the wedding. She was asleep when the wedding began, but woke up shortly thereafter... of course. I put her on the boob quickly to try to keep her from beginning one of her boisterous yelling sessions she's so proud of lately. At that moment, Cam let out a prodigious and very audible fart. A mighty fart. It got the attention of all wedding goers within two row. A little disturbing yes. We all exchanged looks and stiffled some giggles, but when she started giggling herself and farted again - all while nursing this is - I lost it and had to take her downstairs to get it together, and give her some room for her flatulence. What a girl we have! The man behind us in the church whispered, "It's only natural."
We left Monday evening and go home in time for some Zachary's pizza and the Bachelorette! We had a great time. Thanks Grandparents Fro for making it all possible.
We're home now and it's good to be here. I have 2 and a half weeks until I'm back to work, albeit part time. I have 2 and 1/2 weeks to savor my days with my girl. We have some work cut out for us as well in getting Cam back on the bottle and getting her nights a little more sleepful. We're having fun with solids, though we tried apples tonight and she wasn't that big of a fan. We'll try it again tomorrow.
