Back to Work

Well, I went back to work last week. I worked for three days, which means that Amy started working for us too. We all survived and are on our way to becoming accustomed to the new pattern. The real stress of leaving for work was that Cam wasn't taking the bottle, but that has changed. As of Friday, Cam took a bottle from Amy and took it from Joel yesterday. This is a huge success for all of us. It will signal easier work for Ames, the opportunity for Joel to be alone with Cam for longer periods of time, as well as the chance for a bit more freedom for me. We're all very proud of Cam and grateful to Ames. It took a bit of unhappy Cam to get her to the point where she would do it.

Work is going to be fine. I have a decent crop of kids, and only about 20 of them, which is a huge relief. I feel back into the classroom as if I had never left, which was a relief as well. I do enjoy my job enough to distract me from the fact that I would very much rather be at home with the little girl I love most. I get home by 1 'o' clock each day, so Cam and I still have our afternoons together.

We had a visit from Auntie Jen for a quick minute on Friday night and Saturday. Jen was able to get some Cam time on Saturday and we all went out to watch the World Cup match before getting a tired Jen on the Bart to catch her plane. It was a nice, if brief, visit from Cam's doting Auntie.

This is a big and busy week around our home. Joel's birthday, as well as the birthday of the nation is this weekend. We'll be going up to Quincy CA for the High Sierra Music Festival. It will be 4 days of camping and non-stop concert attendance. It will be fun. We'll be staying in a family friendly campground, so wish us luck.
