This is one hot weekend in Berkeley. It is going to be 86 degrees today! Yesterday was a scorcher too. Joel, Cam and I took a long walk to downtown Berkeley for the Green Beer Olympics where we watched the keg toss and went to the Farmer's Market. We walked home leisurely, having a nice lunch at TripleRock Brewery, one of our favorite places. MMMmmmm... seitan rueben.
Cam's new favorite toy is the box that her helmet was delivered in. The helmet ended up being way too big. We'll have to save it for when her noggin gets a bit bigger. Here, her and D are having a grand ole time... well at least Cam is having a good time.
Check out the cutie patootie face on that dog. It's not hard to guess what she's thinking. "Please get me the $@$%# out of here!"
We also had a little bit of a chance this weekend to test out Cam's bike seat attachment to Joel's bike. We bought a new and smaller helmet and spent some of our time tightening the bolts on the bike seat. The experience was met with mixed reviews on Cam's part. She seemed to enjoy the ride, but hates wearing a helmet and once Joel stopped moving she got a bit upset. It'll take some practice and getting used to, but it's so cute to see Joel ride away and Cam's little peanut head bouncing around the back.
Cam's got some new tricks too. She started clapping her hands yesterday. One of her hands starts out as a fist and then it turns into a real clap. She's thrilled she can do it and pauses now and then to look at what her hands are doing. We've yet to catch that on film. This morning she took 5 or 6 steps crawling! I think this week will be big for her in that respect.
Joel and I had a date last night. We got out for a nice dinner and a drink, but got a call from the sitter that Cam was crying and sounded pissed. She didn't have much in the way of naps yesterday, so that may have contributed to it. By the time we got home, she was pretty worked up and had been crying for an hour. Poor baby... and poor baby-sitter! It's most likely a mixture of not having napped well and being really excited about the new things she can do. When I went into her crib to soothe her, she was sitting up and put her arms out to me! That's a first. We need to figure out how to stay to her schedule on weekends which can be hard if we want to go anywhere or do anything ever.
We're off to do something today! Not sure what, but it's going to be beautiful and there's no Pack game so we need to take advantage. This week Joel is going to a Filipino Heritage Night Giants game and on Friday, Jen is breezing through town on her way to Honduras. We might be able to meet up with her for a hot second. This week I will also receive a paycheck for the first time since I had Cam, so that's exciting for all kinds of reasons.
Hope you're all well.

love these photos! It's nice to hear about C's new tricks.
